Harry Potter movie

 Over 330 million dollars over its first weekend Harry Potter 7 part one has solidified its place as one of the best selling potter movies to date. Not even taking into account the fact that there is still another movie before the story of the seventh book is finished. I for one saw the movie at its midnight realease. (The first time that i have gone to a midnight realease for any movie) As a diehard harry Potter fan, I loved the movie, however I was slightly disapointed by how many important details were left out. Not wanting to spoil the movie for people who havent seen it yet, i wont go into specific details. However, it is remarkable how with only half of the book out, it still ranks as one of the best selling movies. This strategy of dividing a movie in two and making two movies to cover more points will probably be used by more Studios now that the succsess of the Seventh movie can be seen. If the popularity of the deathly hallows part 2 compares to part one in sales, Harry potter the deathly hallows will be one of the best selling movies of all time. I do think makers of New movies will think about dividing up movies in order to keep bringing in customers and money. If it works for harry potter, why not try it? As far as visually, this movie compares to Avatar in my opinion. i wouldnt be surprised if this movie gets nominated for best picture. As the technology is getting more and more advanced, the detail in movies is getting sharper and better. How much detail that can be put into movies makes me excited for the future of the film industry!

Project proposal.

My research paper was based on science religion and spirituality. With such a broad topic to deal with, I decided to make my proposal movie based. My intended project is to do all of the pre work that comes before a movie is made. My two artifacts are, a movie preview or a longer written synopsis of the movie, and the other a Visual aid to describe the potential movie to viewers. My audience for this would be college age persons. It would be designed as a comedy. A rabbi a scientist and a frat brother are all friends trapped inside a buddy’s mansion. The argument would be that science religion and spirituality are three different approaches to truth. I will need a computer and a video camera to finish both artifacts. Also I need a microphone to do the voice over’s for the preview. Since the message is displayed through a comedy its main purpose will be to provide entertainment for the viewer, in the hopes that along the way they learn something about science religion and spirituality. At the very least broaden their perspective.

I am aware that mixing three friends into a drunken adventure doesn’t necessarily sound like the best way to talk about science, religion or spirituality. But the real message of the movie is that the character, and society as well needs to set aside our differences in order to evolve in thought. Since any movie that had this as its message could be boring towards college students, I decided to add a crazy and random theme to the mix to stir the pot. I want to end with my plotline so far.

So here’s the plotline so far,

3 old friends are invited by another longtime college friend john to come visit him for New Years celebrations at his Mansion just outside Vegas. Locked in the house with full blown Vegas style debatury, these old friends get a chance to reconnect with pals they haven’t seen in over a decade.  When John’s plans to bring back together the rabbi, the scientist and the frat brother don’t exactly get off to the right foot, it takes a night of mayhem and a river of beer to get things going! There are twists and turns in every room of the house, and while John has hidden keys across the house, he doesn’t remember where they are. So the pals trek across the mansion, doing what they need to get the keys so they can get the hell out of the house. With mattress jousting, drunken dodgeball, and beer games at every curve. This movie is Fun for the whole DORM!

This summers, must see drunken movie of all time is …… Out Colder. Coming soon to theatres near you!

Based off  a true story

Sisters Bat Mitzvah

Mazel Tov! So this last weekend I went home back to cincinnati, to see and participate in my sisters Bat Mitzvah. She did an excellent job, very proud of her naturally. I may be a little biased, but i think it was the best ive seen. No slip ups or mistakes. But enough of that. The real reason i wanted to use this topic as a post is a way to explain to some of you who dont know what a bar/bat bitzvah is. Well…. Its a tradition in the Jewish religion, that when a boy a girl turns 13 years of age they read from the torah, and guide the congregation in prayer as well as have a speach ready to discuss the torah portion, and thank those that attended. This mock Rabbi ritual has been performed by Jews for centeries. Once they do their portion on the torah, they become a Bar Mitzvah. Which means they are an adult in the Jewish Faith. This right of passage is usaully required for the males, but is not a requirment for women.

       Thats all to the service. The student learns and leads the songs and prayers, then reads from the torah, then does a speach, and recieves blessing and gifts from the rabbi, family and friends. After the service. It is common to hold a luncheon followed by some sort of party, either immediatly after or later on that day. The most common is the DJ dinner. But ive been to Bar Mitzvahs who rented box seats at a reds game, bangals game, ski trip or basicly any avenue you could think of. The most common however, is dinner followed by dancing. This is shown in several modern movies, such as Keeping Up With The Steins.

About One Hour left

With just one hour left in this midterm election, this viewer predicts the house going to the Republicans. At this point its republicans one hundred and four to fifty nine democrats. Several major news sites such as cnn and msnbc have predicted a win for the grand old party. I can see this happening.

    However while some people through my psl dorm are convinced one side or another is the only way this country will get out of its problems in the economy, in imigration as well as other important issues. I however dont see democrats or rebublicans as the answer. This age old way of politics, get your party in office when the other does bad, then ignore each other isn’t going to work anymore. With society evolving technologicly, its time for politics as well to evolve. The party a canidate is a part of shouldnt be an issue anymore. Countless times tonight I’ve heard “If the republicans come back into office were screwed.” or “If the democrats stay for another term were done for.” This kind of thinking only seperates us as a nation as well as politically. Polititicans who reach across the isle to try and find a bipartisan solution are attacked by their own party as well as the other one. This happens because we as  people allow it to happen.

With the most recent election about to draw to a close we will see if the new choices people made about canadites will break the vicous cycle known as politics today, or will it just be another part of the cycle

For me, reviewing and offering sugguestion for the larger issues in a paper, such as structure or content was easier than clerical edditing. Im not the best with grammer so  naturally its harder to edit that in someone elses paper. I liked the responses on my paper on working on the flow of the paper, as far as which parts worked well, and which still need a little work. As a whole though i liked the PR experience just as a chance to start getting a feel for the writting styles of some of my classmates. Between the three in my group we have three distinct writing styles.  Editting a paper is very much changed based on the writing style of the author, some things that you would like to be changed in the paper, is an important part of character for the authors particular style.
